The Holy Land which includes Jerusalem and Bethlehem is the only place in the world today where authentic Armenian pottery is still being made. Armenian pottery began centuries ago in the uplands of Turkey. The ceramic tiles and other decorative items were used to beautify the churches in Jerusalem. In the early part of the 20th century, the Armenians were forced to leave Turkey due to perescutions. Many settled in Jerusalem and surrounding areas and have continued to produce this beautiful pottery.
