Product Description

This is a replica of a Roman jar found in the Holy Land.    It is made from clay in Holy Land just as the original jugs were made.  While today, we have a myriad of plastic containers for storage of milk, cream, wine, water, perfumes and other liquids.  In Biblical times, they also needed to store their liquids.  Most were stored in clay vessels.  They were as varied in shape and size as are our liquid containers today.

This Roman jar replica is 5 inches high.  It could have held some precious wine, or anointing oils, perfumes, or even cosmetics.  This jar would have been sealed using waxes to shut out light and to keep the insects away.  These jars while they look different from our jars of today serve the same purpose, to protect and store the contents within.

This twin handled jar is a reminder of how people lived in Biblical times.  This makes a perfect gift for the minister, the theology student or anyone who is interested in the Bible.

Each piece of pottery sold at Osmun Gifts is unique.  Each is handmade and there are slight variations in height, width and placement of handles. The pottery was made in the Holy Land using the same process as used 2000 years ago and are imported by Osmun Imports.

These pottery pieces are not glazed.  They are not to be used for food prepartion or for food consumption.
