Product Description

This small 4 1/2 inch replica of a clay pot found in the Holy Land has a wide mouth and 2 notches on each side to help with handling the jug.  This would likely have been used for storage of dry goods or grains such as wheat or rice.   A rope or string could be tied around the notches to help carry it or to hold down a lid.   This pot, like its original was made in the Holy Land with native clay.

The photos shown are a sample of the pottery available.  There will be variations in the height, width and placement of notches in each piece as each piece is handmade as well as color. These pots are just using the same methods as were used in Biblical times.  Each is unique.

These pottery pieces are not glazed.  Glazing was unknown in the Holy Land at the time.  While our Biblical ancestors used them as is, it is not recommended today that liquids be placed in them.   They may be used after cleaning with water for storage of grains.
